Our paper shredder is making angry grinding noises when it’s on. I don’t know how to fix it, and don’t know if it’s worth fixing.

Many people try to put too much into the shredder. Not too many pages at once, but let the bit fill too full. This makes the paper back up into the shredding teeth.
Unplug the shredder. Remove the top and look at the shredding area from the bottom. If there’s a lot of paper wrapped around the teeth that’s the problem. It’s not hard to remove it, but be careful. The teeth are sharp. Carefully pull as much of the paper out of the teeth as you can. It’ll make a mess but there’s no way to avoid it. It’ll also take some time. When you have removed as much as you can, put the top back on, plug it it and try it. You can also buy lubricating sheets for shredders at your local office supply store. Just feed one of these sheets through once a month or so.

large paper shredder question by BRAT: Anyone have a job in which they have to shred paper documents quite often and you’ve found that…?
…that the noise the shredder makes gives you headaches and pressure in your head at times afterwards…and have you noticed the cloud of dust that is released each time you shred a few sheets ? I am worried that this is very bad for your health…I mean, the paper usually has ink/toner on it…which is probably harmful to your lungs if breathed on a regular basis. Anyone else had any issues from shredding a lot ? I shred large quantities at a time, sometimes daily and seem to have symptoms afterwards. I did start using ear plugs a while back. Now…I’m considering wearing a face mask because of the dust/air pollution that’s put out–it’s bad ! What do you think ??? Thanks…

I have an Allegheny 20-350C paper shredder. My company will have to start ceoss-cutting papers real soon. I’m having a hard time finding shredders of that size, and none that I come across have a cross-cut capability. Are there any cross-cut shredders of that size or is setting up a cross-cutting system with two industrial shredders my only option?

I may have to have my hard drive wiped clean to clear up a spy shredder problem, one of which is the S.S. is gone but I can*t change my background desktop.everything works but the background and all I can get is a color. no arrows work or anything in the Background /desktop catagory.
I want to copy my favorites and some e mail to a CD.
How can I do this? In plain English please??

in your c: drive look for Documents and setting, you should see your profile name. in that folder you will see your favorites. if you open that folder, looks like a star you will see all your links.
